Not sure where to begin? Try the Mirror Function activity first. A gentle reflection to help you notice what matters before you decide what to commit to.
January, spring, or a random Tuesday — whenever you feel the pull to start fresh, it’s worth asking: how do I want to feel in my creative life? I’ve learned that setting an intention, something playful, instinctive and pressure-free, can be more powerful than a long list of goals. Sometimes I make a quiet pact with myself to stay curious and play — even for just 20 minutes a day. It’s not about milestones, but building momentum that works for you.
Activity: Make a Creative Pact
A playful and personal way to set direction without the pressure of goals.
1. Gather your scraps
Grab a few collage scraps, magazine cuttings, washi tape, pens. Whatever feels fun to work with. No pressure, no rules.
2. Tune in
Take a quiet moment. Ask yourself: What do I want more of in my creative life right now? Write down the words, ideas or images that come to mind.
3. Create your pact
Choose one word or phrase that stands out. Use it to make a small visual reminder — collage it, sketch it, rip it and rearrange it. Let the act of making set it in motion.
4. Dedicate time
Decide how you’ll honour it. 20 minutes a day? One session a week? Whatever you choose, make it doable — and make it yours. This is your commitment to create, explore or play regularly and without perfection.
5. Keep it in sight
Stick your pact somewhere visible — on the wall, in your notebook, next to the kettle. Let it be a gentle nudge: you’ve promised yourself this time. Now keep showing up.
