Music + Awe

Music + Awe is a creative listening experience by Common Exception and Coco Lom, using sound, movement and collage to spark wonder and joy.

Common Exception and Coco Lom are on a mission to share the power of music — and the feelings of wonder and awe that come with it.

Created for NOW Gallery as part of the London Design Festival and Finding Awe series, Music + Awe combines live music, visual art and movement in a multi-sensory creative session. Led by artists Louisa Tan (Common Exception) and Coco Lom, with a live set from Guava Jamz DJ Marley, the workshop invites participants to feel their way through sound — drawing, moving and collaging in response to shifting rhythms and emotional tones.

From fast-paced electronic beats to deep, dubby basslines and joyful disco, each track becomes a prompt for creative play. With eyes closed, pens in hand and bodies swaying to the beat, participants created abstract patterns and vibrant layered collages inspired by the music.

Originally designed for in-person sessions, Music + Awe is also available as a creative booklet and collage kit — with guided prompts, curated playlists, and tactile materials to help people of all ages experience music in a new way.
