How to Meet People / Activity

Creative ways to build connection, meet new collaborators, and stay open to possibility — without the awkwardness.

I love meeting new people — especially when it happens in ways that feel natural, creative, and full of possibility. For me, networking isn’t about small talk or selling yourself. It’s about building real connections. Over the years, I’ve found simple, thoughtful ways to do that — whether it’s inviting someone to an event, following up with a kind message, or hosting a space for others to meet. Here are a few ideas to help you connect too.

Activity

Try one of these this week.

  • Invite someone to an event you’re already going to. It’s an easy way to spend time together without pressure.
  • Send a kind message to someone whose work you love. Tell them what it means to you.
  • Follow up after a conversation. A quick DM or email goes a long way.
  • Attend something fun where you get to make or do something. Shared experiences build bonds.
  • Host a gathering — big or small, online or in person — and invite people you admire.
  • Interview someone for your blog, newsletter or zine. It’s a great way to build a connection and start a conversation.
  • Think about who you could introduce to someone else. Generosity helps everyone grow.
