Finding Awe with Common Exception and Coco Lom

Find awe in the everyday in our Walk + Awe workshop
Look around, listen closely for sounds, find joy in the feelings that arise and the details you see. NOW Gallery has invited artists and designers Louisa Tan from Common Exception and Coco Lom to present a series of creative workshops exploring awe and connection, to coincide with John Booth X CAN’s exhibition Up in Smoke.

Louisa and Coco Lom are colour and pattern lovers, sharing a love for finding awe – those moments that connect us to the surrounding world. Designed for all stages and abilities, this workshop series encourages visitors to celebrate these quiet but mighty moments and experience a sense of joy, calm and creativity through collage.

Walk + Awe

The first workshop is Walk + Awe. Join Common Exception and Coco Lom on an awe walk around Greenwich Peninsula, exploring the Design District’s unique buildings, landscaping and hidden corners, and drawing in response. Awe walking is about being present and noticing what’s around you. What colours can you see? What interesting textures do you feel? What joyful patterns catch your eye? They might be small and underfoot, or maybe big and above your head!

On return to NOW Gallery, amidst John Booth X CAN’s Up in Smoke exhibition, create a series of collages inspired by the shapes, patterns and colours we’ve encountered, guided by Coco Lom and Common Exception.
