Not your usual business coaching

Made for creative people
not just creatives
building brands

Like therapy for your business, our coaching sessions help you on your journey. We might just talk, but we might get creative too. We often use writing, drawing and collaging in our sessions. It’s not to create works of art, but as a tool to help us focus on our brains — and it’s fun!

Build a business that feels like you, not someone else

We help all sorts of people on their business journey, from artists and designers to insurers and personal trainers. What unites them is creative thinking. See some of the brands we’ve worked with.

Find your own path

Building a business can be hard but you don’t need to do it alone. Providing a safe and confidential space for you to talk about your challenges, each session is with Louisa, a strategist, entrepreneur, creative thinker and the founder of Common Exception. From getting started to growing your business, each session is bespoke to your needs, focusing on a specific issue or challenge. After the session, you’ll know where you want to go and how to get there. If you don’t see a time that works, contact us.

What to expect

Who is a coaching session for?

A session is great if you’ve got a big idea or an existing business but you’re not sure what to do next. You might be feeling overwhelmed, a bit lost or you have a feeling something is holding you back.

What happens in a session?

Each session is unique and is all about you. We talk through where you’ve come from, how you’re feeling, what you’re finding challenging and where you want to go. Together, we’ll come up with some ideas that work for you.

We might get creative

We may just talk, but we may also get a bit creative, especially if you’re trying to work out what your brand looks and sounds like. We might use writing, drawing or collage — or all three — but we’ll let you know before the session what we think will work for you.

What happens before a session?

We’ll send you an email with some questions. You might find these really therapeutic. We use your answers to get an understanding of you and what you need.

What happens after a session?

We call these sessions business therapy for a reason. After a session, you’ll feel great. You’ll have clarity about who you are, where you want to go and ideas for how to get there. We’ll send you reminders to help you put some of your ideas into action.

Can I book another session?

Yes, of course! While one session might be enough, you might find in a couple of months that you’ve got more questions or you want to build in accountability. Our first session is always 60 minutes — so we have enough time to get to know each other — but if you want to book another session you can choose from 60 minutes, 45 minutes or 30 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s completely up to you! It’s always been important to us that you’re always in control and not locked into something you don’t need. Some clients will book sessions weekly for a month, and then book a session when they need to discuss their next challenge. Some clients we’ll meet with annually to check in and make sure that their goals and strategy are still right for them. Other clients will find one is enough. If you’re looking for accountability to stay on track for a certain project, bid or deadline, you might want to book some 30-minute sessions in advance.

Who is it with?

Each session is with Louisa, founder of Common Exception. Louisa is a strategist and a creative problem solver with a lot of empathy and understanding that everyone, whatever their circumstances, has challenges. She works with businesses and organisations of all sizes, but it’s the people doing it on their own that she thinks will change the world.

How to book?

It’s simple. Just pick a time and pay online. If you can’t see a time that suits you contact us.

What if I need to reschedule?

We understand that life gets complicated! If you need to change your appointment time, contact us 24 hours in advance.
